Who works for Medullary Ray Furniture?

Posted by on Dec 12, 2018

Stuart Pountney is the chief cabinet maker and owns the business. Stuart has been working as a successful cabinetmaker for 26 years, and there is little he cannot create out of wood. As well as being a very experienced cabinet maker he is a good designer and enjoys working with clients to bring their ideas to life. Although he likes designing his own pieces he happily works for Interior Designers and has a long-standing working relationship with Steven Curtis, BIID, a highly respected Interior Designer from Hampshire. Stuart loves being in his workshop creating beautiful fitted and free standing pieces of furniture and he particularly loves being near the New Forest which he finds inspiring.

Lisa Mcleod joined Medullary Ray furniture as a cabinet maker’s assistant last year. Lisa had run her own successful retail business before making the decision to retrain as a cabinet maker. After studying at Bournemouth & Poole College, where she achieved a distinction in Level 2 certificate in Furniture Making, Lisa joined Stuart in the workshop. In her time with us Lisa’s cabinet making skills and abilities have developed rapidly and Stuart and Lisa make a great workshop team.

Caroline Pountney, Stuart’s wife joined the Company more recently. Caroline used to run her own Human Resources consultancy business but decided to leave the HR world and put all her energy behind Stuart’s passion. Caroline deals with all the customers and suppliers, manages the workshop schedule and all the paperwork which is helping to streamline the business and most importantly it has freed up Stuarts time so he can devote all his time to designing and making.

After spending 26 years working in a male only cabinet making environment, Stuart is adjusting well to working in the predominantly female environment that exists at Medullary Ray Furniture!!
